Eeewwww... I have no idea what this stuff is, but there's tons of it back there and some parts of the path are so overrun with the stuff that you just have to walk through it. It looks like rotting vegetation but it doesn't smell, and it doesn't go away - it's always like this.

Yesterday morning was aesthetically quite different from the afternoon, so I decided to post the morning today instead in order to keep them separated.
These were all taken at various locations down near the Anacostia River in DC.
